My Day with 100 Lavender Brides

Last month, I attended Magic 93.1’s 15th Annual Wedding Expo in Grand Junction, CO. There, I met hundreds of brides and their families actively and excitedly planning their weddings.

I was happy to discover that many brides who attended the event were getting crafty, designing every aspect of the big day from invitations to table decorations – Their eyes were lit with both DIY spirit and a love for lavender.

Many of the brides I met at the Expo arrived knowing they wanted to incorporate lavender into their weddings. From bouquets to bags of dried lavender buds for tossing, we offered a spread of inspiration and examples at our booth. While lavender varieties bloom at different points throughout summer and fall, there are still many ways to incorporate lavender into weddings and events all year long.

Fresh lavender adds aroma and style to bouquets and centerpieces.

In Colorado, fresh lavender is available from mid-June throughout July and into September. At our farm, we harvest all season long, offering many varieties of fresh lavender with long stems, perfect for floral arrangements. Add fresh lavender to bouquets of Baby’s Breath or white Tulips, like in this photo, for simple yet stunning bouquets.

Dried lavender, on the other hand, can be used year-round. Combine dried stems along with fresh flowers in floral arrangements, or wrap bundles of dried lavender in satin or linen for an elegant bouquet. Add a jeweled broach for a timeless look.

You can also use dried lavender buds in place of rice (which the birds aren’t too fond of) as a wedding toss, or in personalized sachets for a party favor.

At Sage Creations Organic Farm, we offer lavender party favors and fresh or dried lavender bundles all year long, and we can ship our sensible creations anywhere in the United States. For fresh lavender, we wrap each bundle individually with ice packs to ensure each bundle arrives in good condition. You can also pick up the lavender at our farm if you live close by. We offer a variety of fresh and dried flowers at the farm from June to September.
