Our Organic Plant CSA is back!

As farmers dedicated to quality and sustainability, we’re always trying new things. Testing out different varieties of lavender in our high desert climate, adding to our abundant selection of heirloom tomatoes, arranging and rearranging our organic plant starts to fit as many plants as possible! – Farming, like gardening, is all about playing with new ideas, adapting and adjusting to changing seasons and circumstances.

Last year, we tried something quite different for us: We offered an Organic Plant CSA Program. Our goal was to provide a convenient way for local gardeners to obtain organic plant starts and seeds. We loved visiting with our CSA members as the season progressed, and hearing about their trials and successes (we did have a freeze in late May, after all!).

Now, our Organic Plant CSA is back! And of course, we’re tweaking it a bit, in hopes to improve the program every year. It goes like this:

  • Choose a membership option that’s best for you
  • Enjoy as much flexibility and as much guidance as you please!
  • CSA packages save you more than 10%
  • Get a 10% CSA Member Discount on all plants purchased separately from your CSA

Throughout the growing season, members will visit us at the farm to pick up their organic plant starts and seeds for direct seeding, along with potted culinary herbs and flowers – all grown right here at the farm.

We want to offer gardeners of all levels more flexibility to create the garden of their dreams, so we’ve revised the CSA packages to make room for personal preference and creativity.

However, we can always put together a selection of plant starts and seeds that we think would work best with your unique situation! Just ask. After years of testing out different plant varieties in our local climate, we have a good idea of what grows well, most often.

Our selection is made up of heirloom, open-pollinated and American Award Selection Winners. Vegetable plants, cutting flowers, and culinary and medicinal herbs are nurtured in our greenhouses with certified organic potting soil and amendments, beneficial insect releases, and thrive after transplanting. Many of our customers have offered their testimonials claiming our plants have a health and vigor like no other.

We invite members to come to the farm as often as they wish to pick up plant starts and seeds. We’ll keep a record so that you can adjust and adapt your garden throughout the season.

Of course, plant varieties are limited, and they are first-come first-served. CSA members have the option to reserve their favorite plant varieties at the beginning of the season.

This year’s CSA begins with a kick-off Garden Seminar: Design your garden lavender patch.

Join us on April 14 for an interactive seminar on gardening with lavender. Learn how to incorporate lavender and other perennials into your home garden, as well as how to plant and care for lavender throughout the season.
